Merkt is a mixed martial arts veteran of five years. The Wisconsin native debuted in January 2007 — defeating Dante Henderson via first round knockout. Former EFX bantamweight champion. Trains daily at The Academy alongside UFC veterans Sean Sherk, Nik Lentz, Jacob Volkmann and Paul Bradley. Currently ranked as the #17 best flyweight in the world according to FightMatrix.com. Is coming off a first round stoppage of former Midwest MMA amateur champion Tony Crowder. Defeated Billy Jochum in Minnesota’s 2010 Fight of the Year.
