Background
I was introduced to Brazilian jiu-jitsu through the Army Combatives Program while training for my deployment to Iraq in 2005. I continued grappling and boxing in my spare time in Iraq, and immediately joined the Warrior’s Cove when I came home in 2007. Since then I have been training in Rickson Gracie jiu-jitsu and MMA under David Arnebeck at the Warrior’s Cove, as well as boxing with Herman Gilbert of anytime Fitness in Woodbury, MN. I am currently a student at the University of Minnesota pursuing a degree in Computer Science. When I’m not training I’m often baking bread, cookies, pies, etc, which led to my nickname of “The Baker.”
Reason you fight
I find mixed martial arts to be the purest form of competition and the ultimate test of skill, fitness, and discipline. Fighting professionally is a way for me to test myself so that I can find my weaknesses and improve overall as a mixed martial artist, allowing me to represent the Warrior’s Cove and all of my training partners at the same time.
